My name is Charles Coaker and welcome to the Peak Brain Health Clinic.

I strongly believe we should all have access to the latest and greatest information, tools and strategies, that help us manage our most valuable asset, our brains.
I launched this clinic as a way to provide a number of services that I, and many others, feel are missing in the conventional treatment for brain and mental health related disorders.

In addition to this, it also provides a comprehensive approach for those wanting to optimise their brain health and function, as well as mitigating the risk of developing future disorders. After all, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
Why I switched careers to focus solely on brain health, neuroscience, and functional medicine.
Like so many in the health space, it began with my own experience.
During my teens and twenties I went through two distinct episodes with cognitive / mental health issues. What began with a difficulty to focus and perform cognitively, developed into severe anxiety and depression, having to take significant time off work, and ultimately becoming a shell of who I was.

Despite following the guidance of conventional medicine to the letter, I was seeing no improvements. I was prescribed various anti-depressants and was eventually prescribed the highest dosages possible. These came with unpleasant side effects without noticeable improvements. As months passed with no further changes, it was difficult to see how things would improve.

I was determined to understand what was wrong with my brain.
The response from my psychiatrist was always the same, "you've got a chemical imbalance in your brain and these drugs will help correct these, they may just take time." I wanted further details and explanations which were not provided. I was eager to try nutritional and lifestyle strategies, but I was only advised to relax, be patient, and to eat what I enjoyed. My situation always felt more hopeless after these sessions as I felt I had no control and a very limited understanding of what the problem actually was.

Eventually I realised it was up to me to get myself better. I devoted all my time to researching the mechanisms within the brain, and how I could use nutritional and lifestyle practices to support them.

I tried everything I thought that may help and was stunned by the rapid improvements. This included targeted supplementation, nutritional changes, and various lifestyle strategies. I felt a significant shift occur and started feeling like me again. I stopped taking all medication and continued to feel better and back to my usual self. My psychiatrist was equally surprised with my improvements.

This developed a deep desire for me to help others who may also be struggling and not experiencing sufficient benefits of medication.
I was so surprised that the information I sourced wasn't more available and fully utilised within conventional treatment. It felt wrong to me that others would have to dive into the research if they wanted a greater understanding on what was happening, or to learn about other possible solutions available to them. I developed an insatiable appetite to learn and understand as much as I could about the brain and how we can influence it.

This drive ultimately led me to completely changing my career path. Despite a first-class degree in Economics from the University of Exeter and 5 years working at one of the "Big Four" accounting firms, I left the strategy department to solely focus on helping people improve their brain health and function.

I have now spent a decade researching all things related to brain health, neuroscience, and functional medicine. I've had great experience working in a variety of clinical settings, working with all ages and various disorders, before setting up my own clinic, which developed into the Peak Brain Health Clinic.

I feel incredibly fortunate as my pain has become my passion.
My drive and desire to continually research has never once wavered, and results to date reinforce the many benefits of this approach. My great hope is that by minimising your pain and improving your brain function, that you will be able to develop your own passions and live a happy, healthy and successful life.

I look forward to talking with you on a discovery call.
